We know just how crazy wedding planning can be because we've been there. We were married in May of 2015 and have experienced the craziness of planning, the many tears in the form of joy and frustration, and the sheer excitement of the fact that we were getting married. Rest assured that we are here to help calm the process and make it as fun and enjoyable as we possibly can so that you can focus on being madly in love! It's our mission to capture the biggest day of your life exquisitely so that you can relive your big day for the rest of your life with beautiful photographs.

-Mattea attended Northern Arizona University and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Photography. A week after graduation she moved to Minnesota to pursue her dream as a wedding photographer, and MRD Photography was born. After 9 years in the Marine Corps, Courtney joined the business to pursue his passion for people and creativity. MRD Photography has been featured on numerous occasions over the past three years, and strives to continue providing the highest quality images to couples madly in love.-

Hello!

my favorites

I always like to tell our love story because it's my favorite, so grab a cup of coffee and take a seat! Our love story starts out at a Cracker Barrel in Arizona of all places, on a cold Saturday morning in February. And yes...it really does get cold in Arizona! But anyways, I was working as a waitress while in college for photography, and Courtney was stationed two hours away from me on recruiting duty for the Marine Corps. I wasn't supposed to work that day or take the table that Courtney was sitting at, but fate had a different plan!

I got called in to work on account of several people not showing up at 5:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning in a college town (should've seen that coming). I actually remember seeing Courtney walk in and thinking to myself what a total lady-killer he was. But back to the story! The next part is totally true even though some people don't believe it, but right after Courtney and several other Marines sat down, the girl who was supposed to be taking that table threw up right in front of me.

Of course I was going to take the table anyways because she was sick, but part of me was super excited and nervous to go talk to the mega stud I saw walk in a minute earlier. So, I put on my best 'act casual' face and walked out to greet them. Everyone at the table was super friendly and chatty except for Courtney, who was in the corner with his face shoved in the menu. I was sidetracked talking with everyone else when all of the sudden that quiet guy in the corner who I would marry three short years later looked up at me and said, "I'm gonna need some sugar, sugar."   (He's always had a way with words.) I told him he'd have to work a little harder than that, and walked away. To this day I have no idea how I actually played that one off so casually. Before he left he asked for my number and I gave it to him on the back of a receipt. When I gave it to him he made me stand there in front of his friends while he called the number to make sure I didn't give him a fake one.
Four years, a move to Minnesota, two dogs, a baby, and two houses later, here we are folks!

Me

meet andrew

"When people ask me how I became a photographer, I am never sure where to start. I stumbled upon my love of photography only after buying a camera for fun and suddenly discovered how good it felt to put the world into the frame of the lens. I purchased my first studio lights a few months later and began roping in my friends to model as I learned how to translate my creative vision into reality. Then I shot my first wedding and the thrill of forever capturing that family's joy on that day stuck with me. I am inspired everywhere I look, from films to friends to nature to fine art. I can't help but see things creatively.
I am most in my element when I can thoughtfully prepare and set up the shot. I am attracted to simplicity, clean lines, creative lighting and crisp focus. I enjoy being resourceful, experimenting with my equipment, and thinking outside the ordinary box.

I am drawn to photographing well thought out design, whether it be in weddings, fashion, food, or life."
